London. John Scott.

Londres era un pequeño pueblo al lado de un río, cuando los romanos llegaron empezó a crecer y lo llamaron LONDRES.
London was a little village around the river, when the Romans came it started to grow and they call it "London".
En el verano de 1665 hubo un gran fuego que destruyó la Catedral de San Pablo, después construyeron otra. En el siglo XX las bombas alemanas destruyeron muchos edificios, pero no la catedral.
In the summer of 1665 there was a big fire, it destroyed St. Paul´s Cathedral, after that they built a new one. In the twentieth century the German bombs destroyed many buildings but they didn´t  destroyed the Cathedral.
El Palacio de Buckingham es la casa y la oficina de la reina. Por la mañana puedes ver el cambio de guardia.
Buckingham Palace is the queen´s home and her office. In the morning you can see the changing of the guard.
El Primer Ministro vive en el número 10 de Downing Street. Es una tradición.
The prime minister lives at 10 Downing Street, it is like a tradition.
El puente del Milenio es el puente más nuevo en Londres. The London Eye es una noria muy grande. Fue construida en el año 2000 para celebrar el milenio.
The Millennium Bridge is London newest bridge. The London Eye is a big Wheel. It was built in the 2000 to celebrate the Millennium.
Hyde Park es uno de los parques más bonitos de Londres. Es muy tranquilo.
Hyde Park is one of the most beautiful parks of London, it is nice and quiet.
Uno de los escritores más importantes de Gran Bretaña es Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Escribió las historias de Sherlock Holmes, en su museo puedes aprender cosas sobre él.
One of the most important writers of Britain was Sir Arthur Connan Doyle who wrote the stories of Sherlock Holmes, at the museum you can learn a lot about him.
El centro comercial más famoso de Gran Bretaña es Harrods, aquí puedes comprar ropa y también comer el famoso "Fish and Chips".
The most famous department store in Britain is Harrods, here you can buy clothes but you also can eat the famous fish and chips.

Si estás en Londres, puedes viajar en el famoso autobús rojo o el metro. También lo llaman "the tube".
If you are in London, you can take the famous red bus or the underground, it is also called "The Tube".

Me ha gustado este libro porque he aprendido bastantes datos sobre los Estados Unidos:
I like this book because I have learnt some interesting facts about the USA:

* Día de Acción de Gracias: Los colonos celebraron en otoño una gran cena para dar gracias por las primeras cosechas.
"Thanksgiving day": The pilgrims had a big dinner in autumn to give thanks for the first food that they had grown themselves.
* El 4 de julio es un día muy importante en America. Es el Día de la Independencia.
4th July is an important day in America, this day is The Declaration of Independence.
* Guerra Civil Americana: Los estados del Sur estaban a favor de la esclavitud, pero el Norte estaba en contra. El Sur perdió la guerra.
American Civil War: Southern states wanted slaves but the Northern states didn´t want them. The South lost the war.
* Martin Luther King fue muy importante porque luchó por los derechos civiles de los afroamericanos.
Martin Luther King was very important because he fought for the civil rights of the black people.
* El Presidente vive en la CasaBlanca.
The president lives in "The White House".
* Normalmente la gente en Estados Unidos trabaja 40 horas a la semana y tienen dos semanas de vacaciones.
Usually people in the USA work forty hours a week and they have two weeks holidays.
* Los deportes más populares en América son el béisbol, el baloncesto y el fútbol.
The most popular sports in America are baseball, basketball and football.
* Casi todos los americanos comen "comida rápida" así que la mayoría están gordos. Starbucks se inventó en Estados Unidos en los años 90. La Coca-Cola también. Tú puedes encontrar todos  los tipos de comida allí.
Almost all Americans eat "fast food" so most of them are fat. Starbucks was invented in the USA about 1990s. Coca-Cola was first made in America. In the USA you can find all kinds of food.

* Música: Los esclavos libres inventaron el blues. Elvis Presley fue el primer cantante blanco que cantó música que provenía del blues. El Jazz nació en Nueva Orleans. Otro tipo de música americana es el Country, que viene de Tennessee. El Rap se hizo popular en Nueva York en los años 90.
American Music: Blues was invented by the freedom slaves, Elvis Presley was the first white singer to sing music that came from the Blues. Jazz was born in New Orleans. Another kind of American music is Country, it comes from Nashville, Tennessee. Rap became popular in New York in  the 1990s.
